GENERAL QUESTIONS
How do you determine the shipping and handling costs?
Shipping cost is determined by your geographical location. Please see
the "Place
Order" page to determine the actual cost.
Where do you ship? What about Canada?
We can ship to any location in the US, including Hawaii and Alaska.
Unfortunately, due to carrier limitations and customs restrictions,
we are unable to ship beyond these areas at this time.
Please check our website in the future for updates on our expanded
shipping areas.
If the food is fresh, how does it stay good during shipment?
We use custom-designed, insulated boxes with dry ice and gel packs to
keep our food at an ideal temperature during a transit time of up to 5
days.
Is there a way to order only lunch and dinner entrees without
breakfast?
Yes! See the "Place Order" page for all meal plan options.
When do I start eating the meals?
As soon as your food arrives you can begin with the next meal!
How do I figure out the cost of a specific meal plan per week?
It’s easy! See the "Place Order" page for all meal plan
costs.
Are your meals already cooked?
Yes! We’ve done all the cooking; you simply heat and eat!
Are all the meals microwavable?
Yes! Our entrée containers are microwave and oven safe, just follow
the heating instructions.
How much weight will I lose in a month?
It has been our experience that our customers on a 7-day plan
typically lose about 1-3 pounds per week. Factors contributing to your
success would include your activity level, health habits, and your
lifestyle. We advertise that a typical weight loss is 25 pounds in 10
weeks because we’ve seen it happen for many, many people. Before
starting any weight-loss program, you should consult your physician.
Can you order a week at a time, or must you sign up for several
weeks at a time?
It’s up to you! Tell us when you order if you don’t want to
automatically receive future weekly shipments. Making changes is easy!
Either call us at 1-800-743-7546 or email us at customerservice@diettogo.com
Are the foods frozen or fresh?
If fresh, how do you defrost, and how can a sandwich last a week? Please
explain.
All of our meals are freshly prepared, then vacuum packed and frozen
for shipment. Although we do not use any preservatives or additives,
upon receipt your meals will have a 3 day shelf life in the
refrigerator, or can be frozen for at least a month.
From what I have seen, your plan seems to be aimed at women. Do
you
have diets for men?
Our plans come in 2 calorie levels, 1000 or 1600 calories per day.
Your individual lifestyle or ideal weight goal will determine which is
right for you.
Does everything mentioned on your menu come with the order, or do
I have to go to the grocery store, too?
Except for the Special Value Plan, to which you would add your choice
of fresh fruits and condiments, all of the meals are complete and
include everything as shown on the menu.
How are foods delivered to a remote town in the United States?
We use UPS and can deliver wherever they offer service.
How long does the food last in the freezer?
Our meals can be kept in the freezer for at least a month without any
loss in quality.
I usually go out to dinner three times a week. What do I do about
that situation?
Our 5 day plan was developed with you in mind! If you still find you
have meals remaining at the end of the week, remember that you can skip
a week or two if necessary.
Have you had successes with menopausal women?
Diet to Go offers meal plans that can meet your needs, whatever stage
of life you’re in. Our healthful, well-balanced meals are ideal for
most anyone.
What if the UPS carrier delivers it while I am at work, and it’s
left outside?
Since the meals are packaged for a transit time of up to 5 days, it
should be fine if you can’t get them into the refrigerator right away.
Of course, you’d want to unpack them as soon as possible. We do
recommend that all customers leave a note for the UPS delivery person to
"Please leave the box from Diet to Go. It is perishable food",
or have it shipped to a work address.
Your Special Value Plan is 21 meals for $79.95; does that price go
up after the first week? Are the S&H charges included?
The Special Value Plan is an entrée only meal plan; you provide
fresh fruit and condiments. It is always offered at $79.95, but shipping
is not included.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS/PREFERENCES/MEDICAL CONDITIONS
Would you be able to accommodate someone who must be on a
salt-free diet? What about a sugar-free diet?
While our meals are not salt-free, we do follow the guidelines for a
low-sodium diet, and our plans average less than 2,000 mg of sodium per
day.
We can accommodate no sugar diet requirements; just let us know!
Do you have the nutritional breakdown for the diet plan? I'm
borderline hypoglycemic and battling high blood pressure and high
cholesterol, so I'm concerned about the sugar & sodium content.
Yes! Nutritional information is available upon request (email, fax,
mail).
Does Diet-to-Go offer meal plans for vegetarians?
Yes! Please see our vegetarian
menu. Click on the vegetarian menu
link to see what we offer.
There are certain foods I can’t eat. How do you accommodate
special requests?
Whether it is for religious reasons, health or simply a preference,
your reason for making special requests matter to us. We can accommodate
most menu changes. We can make substitutions for certain menu items; our
chefs will send available replacements when you tell us, for example,
" NO SEAFOOD, NO GREEN BEANS, NO SPICY ITEMS" in the special
instructions section. We don’t use any red meat or pork.
I have calculated my point range and I should only be eating
1200-1500 calories a day because I still need to lose weight. Your plan
at 1000 isn't quite enough food and 1600 calories is too much. Any
suggestions?
Our meal plans are designed to provide your complete daily
nutritional requirements. Your individual calorie needs can be met by
supplementing to either calorie meal plan.
If our 1600 calorie plan is too high, then our 1000 calorie plan will
allow for you to add items according to your needs, such as skim milk or
snacks.
I am an Active Weight Watchers advocate, and would need to know
the "point value" of each meal. Can you provide this sort of
information?
Yes! Nutritional information is available upon request (email, fax,
mail).
Are your meals vegan? Organic?
Our vegetarian meals are not vegan as they contain dairy and egg
products (ovo-lacto). We currently are unable to make widespread use of organic
products, but the ingredients we use have undergone minimal processing.
We do not use any artificial preservatives.
Are your meals lower in sodium than processed foods?
Generally, yes! While our meals are not salt-free, we do follow the
guidelines for a low-sodium diet, and our plans average less than 2,000
mg of sodium per day.
